Benefits of Infant Massage
Infant massage can begin from the day the baby is born and can help with a number of things. The benefits of Infant massage are not just for the baby but include the parents and siblings of the newborn. Some of these benefits include:
- Better bonding/attachment with the parent doing the massage
- Learn Trust, respect and compassion
- Learn appropriate touch
- More relaxed and stimulated
- Better sleep and less fussiness
- Improves circulation and immune system
- Decreases colic and reflux
- Increases familiarity of the babies needs
- Understanding of babies cues
- Increases confidence in handling the baby
- Helps to release stress
Most of us have had a massage and know how beneficial it has been to us. Just because a baby is newborn doesn't mean that there is now reason to give them a massage to help them relax. All babies go through some sort of birth trauma and they need to know that there is loving touch and that everything will be alright.
